About our exams

Rambert Grades exams are an integral part of the learning process. They mark each student’s progression and offer each dancer the opportunity to showcase their technical and performance skills, creativity and knowledge.

Rambert Grades offers qualifications in contemporary dance, across four levels and eleven grades. Rambert Grades Graded Examinations sit on the Ofqual Register of Qualifications. 

Digital exams

All Rambert Grades exams are submitted digitally by the teacher.

Students are recorded in groups by the teacher in a familiar setting. The teacher submits these recordings and each student is assessed by a Rambert Grades examiner.

We believe that this approach places focus on measuring each student’s progression before they take the next step in their Rambert Grades journey into a new grade.

Celebrating each child

Candidates for our three new grades Creative Movers, Pre-Primary and Children who move through these grades are commended on six qualities: Communication, Teamwork, Generosity, Effort, Listening and Enthusiasm. Each candidate receives a digital certificate and bright ‘you are brilliant’ fabric badge to mark their achievement.
