About the training

Our Syllabus Training programmes are a learning environment for teaching Rambert Grades across two syllabi: our main syllabus with three levels and 8 qualifications (Grades 1-8), and our 3-grade syllabus for ages 3+ (Creative Movers, Pre-Primary and Primary) . We offer Syllabus Training entirely online, as a virtual learning environment, and Syllabus Training Intensive, which runs as a hybrid of online and in-person. In both courses, teachers are supported through a variety of ways to learn, digest and embody the Rambert Grades material. You can find out more about these formats below.

The programme is constructed as two distinct units of learning (phases) followed by a consolidation session. Through a blend of self-led and guided learning, you’ll cover our three strands: technical, creative and performance.

Phase 1 (independent learning)

During phase 1 we expect you to familiarise yourself with our Syllabus material. As a member you will immediately have access to the Syllabus Content for our three strands. Additionally, one week ahead of scheduled start date, you will gain access to the training area where you will be able to watch a series of short videos that will support your training and help you prepare for the live guided sessions.

Phase 2 (guided):

By the end of this phase, you will be fully equipped to start teaching the Rambert Grades material. During the live training sessions, our artists will take you through each exercise/solo in the Grade as well as walk you through our Creative Strand. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and see how others have translated the movement through predominantly practical sessions. We do not hold an exam at the end of this phase. Whilst we love to have our members at every live training session, we understand that this is not always possible, and allow for some flexibility by providing recordings if needed.

Training programme types

Syllabus Training

Our standard training format, with shorter sessions spread through a longer period in which you'll cover all three levels (grades 1-8) across all three strands, including a performance pathway. We have designed this course for those whose learning style benefits from more time to digest and process information.

Syllabus training is a virtual learning environment, offered entirely online.

Syllabus Training Intensive

Our intensive programme offers the same learning and content over a much shorter period of time. This is ideal for teachers who wish to cover each grade in a few hours, and who prefer to absorb the information in longer, more intense period of hours across fewer days.

Syllabus Training Intensive is offered both online and in-person (current UK-only). Participants must select either in-person or online.

Performance Pathway
Bolt-Ons

All of our Syllabus Training programmes include learning the performance strand material from one of our invited choreographers. Our Performance Pathway Bolt-Ons provide the option to add a further choreographer to your teaching repertoire.

Bolt-Ons can be booked during your training, or anytime after. You must have completed or be training in the relevant Level to complete an additional performance pathway for this Level. Bolt-Ons run during every Syllabus Training programme, offered online and may also be offered in-person within Syllabus Training Intensive programmes. Learn more here.

Creative Dance for Early Years Training

Creative Dance for Early Years training runs over 2 half days online. Each of these courses prepares the participant to deliver three grades for ages 3+: Creative Movers, Pre-Primary and Primary. Learn more about this syllabus and course here.
