Introducing Future Movers
Rambert Grades announces the launch of Future Movers, a new Ofqual-regulated Entry Level qualification designed to strengthen the early progression pathway in Contemporary Dance. Following a fully booked pilot course earlier this year, the qualification is now available to the wider dance education community.
Developed to address a long-standing gap in early years contemporary training, Future Movers offers a unique and accessible foundation for young dancers, nurturing creativity, confidence and enjoyment of movement. As a bridge between the existing Primary and Grade 1 Contemporary Dance qualifications, the syllabus introduces young learners to memorising structured material, developing creative performance skills, and using imagery and intention to bring meaning into movement within a framework that supports healthy physical, cognitive and artistic growth.
Hannah Kidd, Head of Education & Examinations, said “Future Movers beautifully captures what we believe Contemporary Dance can offer at the earliest stages: curiosity, freedom, and the joy of moving with intention. It gives young dancers the tools to build confidence and artistic identity while staying true to the longstanding Rambert legacy of creativity and excellence. We are proud to see our Trained Teachers embrace this new material with such care and inventiveness, and excited for the possibilities it opens for the next generation of young movers.”

A Successful Pilot Course
The inaugural pilot course welcomed 30 Rambert Grades members in October. Places were offered by invitation to current members, and the course received highly positive feedback from teachers across a range of settings.
Teachers involved in the pilot described Future Movers as “exciting, creative and inclusive”, One teacher described the new grade as “wonderfully exciting, creative and inclusive,” adding: “The structured framework together with the freedom to move makes it a joy to teach. The training and learning support are very comprehensive, and the resources offer a detailed guide.” Another participant shared: “Future Movers provides the technically correct intervention for students transitioning from the Creative Early Dance programme to first grade. The unified focus on technique, creativity and performance is a wonderful concept.”
