Rambert Grades brings Contemporary Dance teacher training to Leeds this autumn

Dance artists, educators, students and recent graduates across Yorkshire and the wider region can now apply for a unique opportunity to train as Rambert Grades Trained Teachers at Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

This autumn, Rambert Grades will deliver Level 1 (Grades 1-3) Syllabus Training in person at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD), offering a rare opportunity for dance professionals in the region to undertake Rambert Grades Syllabus Training in-person.

The training will take place across eight weekly sessions on Tuesday evenings, from 29 September to 24 November 2026, excluding 27 October.

Participants will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to deliver the Technical, Creative and Performance Strands across Grades 1-3 Contemporary . The training includes repertoire and solo material by internationally recognised choreographer Hofesh Shechter, alongside practical exploration of the Rambert Grades syllabus and its approach to contemporary dance teaching.

The course is designed for dance educators, professional dance artists, vocational students and recent graduates looking to develop their contemporary dance teaching practice and broaden their professional opportunities. On completion of the course, participants become Rambert Grades Trained Teachers, joining a global community of over 700 educators in 40 countries.

Training will be delivered by Hannah McGlashon, Artist of Phoenix Dance Theatre and Rambert Grades Delivering Artist. Hannah is also a graduate of Rambert School, bringing professional performance experience alongside her expertise as an educator and Delivering Artist.

Hannah Kidd, Director of Training and Examinations at Rambert Grades, said: “We’re proud to be bringing this training opportunity to dance educators across Yorkshire. Leeds has such a rich dance community, with a strong tradition of both education and performance, and we’re excited to meet the teachers and artists who are passionate about nurturing the next generation of dancers. We look forward to supporting them to develop their practice and bring the Rambert Grades approach into studios across the region.”

The Leeds training forms part of Rambert Grades’ ongoing commitment to expanding access to high-quality contemporary dance teacher training and supporting the development of dance educators across the UK and internationally.
