Flowers, Photos and Picnics: Eight ways to celebrate your dancers' achievements in the studio
Whether you're celebrating dance examination results, recognising personal progress or applauding achievements beyond the studio, taking time to celebrate helps dancers feel seen, valued and motivated.
The best celebrations don't have to be elaborate or expensive. Often, it's the thoughtful moments that leave the biggest impression. At Rambert Grades we’re ever inspired by the achievements of dancers and love to see how you celebrate and champion them.
Here are eight creative celebration ideas based on our amazing community of dance teachers to help you celebrate your dancers.
1. Hold a Formal Presentation
It's a classic for a reason. Celebrate examination results with a certificate presentation at the end of class, or host a special event and invite family and friends to join the occasion.
Some schools introduce their own studio awards alongside certificates, recognising qualities such as Most Improved, Creative Thinker, Kindness Award or Team Player.
2. Create a Wall of Wins
Dedicate a noticeboard or studio wall where students can add stars, sticky notes or photos celebrating moments they're proud of.
It might be passing an exam, performing for the first time, learning a difficult sequence, showing kindness to their peers or arriving at class with a positive mindset after a challenging week.
Aim for eclectic, not perfect!
3. Mark the Moment with Flowers
Sometimes a traditional gesture says it all. Presenting each dancer with a single flower after an exam or performance is a simple but memorable way to acknowledge their hard work. It's an unexpected act that they'll remember long after the day is over.

4. Have a Mini Photoshoot
No fancy equipment required. Set up a simple celebration corner with balloons, your studio logo, or a fun frame where students can take photos after an exam, performance or end-of-term class. Get creative with poses, portraits and group shots.
A few photos on your phone can become treasured memories (and brilliant content for your studio!)
5. Celebrate one and other
Invite dancers to celebrate each other. Pair students up (or draw or allocate names) and ask each person to complete the sentence:
"I celebrate you because..."
Whether they recognise someone's kindness, creativity, or memory skills, hearing positive feedback from peers can be incredibly powerful and supports confidence, empathy and generosity within your wider community.

6. Celebrate Together
Bring everyone together at the end of term. Whether it's a picnic in the park, pizza after class, an ice lolly on a sunny day, a movie night or a fancy dress/costume party, bringing your community together is what counts.
The celebration doesn't have to be about results, it can simply recognise another wonderful term of dancing together.
7. A Celebration Ritual for your Youngest Dancers
Many young children respond positively to routine, so create a simple celebration they can look forward to. Perhaps it's ending each class with dancing with special props, receiving a sticker or collecting a high five from the teacher. For younger students, it's often the ritual, rather than the reward, that makes the moment feel special.

8. Celebrate the Little wins
Not every achievement deserves to wait until the end of term. Take a minute at the end of each class to ask, "What are you proud of today?"
Teaching your students dancers to recognise and celebrate their own progress helps develop confidence, resilience and develops self-esteem, both inside and outside the studio.
This list is far from exhaustive and we know there’s so many more teachers and studios out there coming up with their own brilliant ideas. So we want to hear from you - How do you celebrate your dancers’ achievements?
